Jeff Bollig
Director of Communications, GCSAA
I wanted to express my appreciation for your help in positioning the golf course superintendent. There is no doubt the profession has received increasing – and deserved – recognition. You have been integral in helping to facilitate that.
Judy Bell
President, United States Golf Association (1997-98)
As a USGA volunteer, I had the opportunity to watch Tim’s progress in his field of setting up golf courses for championships and his interest and dedication to learn about the Rules of Golf. His feel for contouring a golf course in terms of various grasses and heights of grass is excellent. All in all, Tim stood on strong principles when it came to setting up a championship test, administering the Rules of Golf and working through his other responsibilities. These principles guide him to make recommendations based on excellent preparation and conditioning of the course, setting up the test to be very challenging but fair and maintaining the course through out the competition week.
Mark Kuhns
Director of Golf Operations, Baltusrol Golf Club and member of the board of directors, GCSAA
Tim has been a great friend and a great advocate of the superintendent. He never asks the superintendent to do something to a course that would put it in danger.
John F. Zimmers, Jr.
Golf Course Superintendent, Oakmont Country Club
I worked with Tim as he played a role in helping Oakmont Country Club to implement a major restoration project with the requirements for hosting a major championship. That can be a difficult task, but Tim was very helpful as he had a true appreciation of Oakmont’s original architectural design. We just recently hosted the 2007 U.S. Open Championship and I thank Tim for his contribution, assistance and guidance. Two successful championships at Oakmont in the last four years were due, in large part, to Tim’s help in planning and coordinating the many details it takes to complete such a task.
Paul Vermeulen
Director, Agronomy, PGA TOUR
As an accomplished player and student of the Rules of Golf, Tim Moraghan is uniquely qualified for the responsibility of developing course maintenance plans with an eye towards major championship competition. Having traveled extensively throughout the United States as the USGA’s Director of Championship Agronomy, Tim is a member of an elite group possessing an in-depth knowledge of both warm- and cool-season turfgrass management. With responsibilities that ranged from initial site evaluation to routine course management during championship play, Tim developed an exceptional ability to work productively with high-ranking course officials and less experienced labor alike.
R.J. Harper
Senior Vice President, Golf Operations, Pebble Beach Company
Tim is a tireless worker…a dedicated and consummate professional. For over 15 years, I’ve relied on his experience and expertise for a variety of golf course projects at Pebble Beach. Tim has always provided honest and unbiased counsel on agronomic challenges we face here on the west coast.
